Recently, the MCM300 downhole telemetry module, independently developed by ArenaPetro, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ArenaPetro), has successfully passed rigorous long term high temperature reliability tests. It maintained uninterrupted and stable operation for 100 consecutive hours at 180degC, with all functional and performance indicators meeting requirements. This test fully validates the long duration operating capability of the MCM300 under extreme high temperature conditions, delivering solid technical support for highly reliable downhole data transmission in the well logging industry.

Petroleum well logging operations are constantly confronted with complex working conditions including ultra high temperatures, strong electromagnetic interference and real time transmission of massive data, which impose stringent requirements on the heat resistance, long term operational stability and data transmission reliability of downhole telemetry equipment. As the core unit for well logging data acquisition, transmission and processing, ArenaPetro’s MCM300 telemetry module serves as a critical tool for cased hole downhole operating systems. It is available in outer diameter variants of 38 mm/ 43 mm/ 54 mm/ 60 mm/ 73 mm/ 90 mm, pressure resistance ratings of 80 MPa/ 100 MPa/ 140 MPa/ 160 MPa, and temperature resistance specifications: 175degC (without thermal flask), 206degC (with thermal flask), and 230degC (with thermal flask). The module is compatible with a wide range of tools for production well logging, including multi parameter logging (GR/CCL/temperature/pressure/density/water hold up/flow rate), multi arm caliper, sonic variable density, ultrasonic imaging, pulsed neutron oxygen activation, pulsed neutron full energy spectrum, and casing cutting. Optional add on modules cover natural gamma ray, cable head parameters (CCL/ borehole temperature/ cable head tension/ cable head voltage and current, etc.), and gyro azimuth, to satisfy high temperature well logging demands for horizontal wells, deep wells and ultra deep wells.

In the past, oil production was dominated by vertical wells, and downhole instrument testing adopted a benchmark of 4 consecutive hours at maximum temperature. The wide deployment of low speed imaging tools later raised the test criterion to 8 hours. Nowadays, operating durations for numerous horizontal well logging jobs have increased substantially; certain downhole tools are required to sustain high temperature operation for 30 or even 60 hours. To thoroughly verify the product’s adaptability to extreme environments, ArenaPetro launched a dedicated reliability test: the module ran under full load conditions non stop for 100 hours at a constant 180 degC. Throughout the full test cycle, no anomalies such as system crash, communication dropout or performance degradation occurred. Signal transmission remained stable, and all core parameters complied with technical specifications, proving the module’s outstanding environmental adaptability and long term operational stability under prolonged high temperature service.

The successful completion of this long duration high temperature test demonstrates ArenaPetro’s R&D and manufacturing strengths in high temperature special purpose communication hardware and realizes key reliability verification for extreme condition applications. It also provides authoritative test data endorsement for large scale deployment of the MCM300 single conductor cable telemetry system in well logging projects. It can effectively mitigate downhole failure risks for deep well logging equipment and improve overall stability and operational efficiency of well logging operations.

Furthermore, the MCM1500 multi conductor downhole telemetry module shares 95% of components with the MCM300; their modulation demodulation circuits are nearly identical, with optimizations tailored for different communication channels. Therefore, the MCM1500 is highly likely to pass the same test. ArenaPetro will initiate this test in the near future.
Going forward, ArenaPetro will continue to deepen its expertise in special purpose communication technologies for petroleum well logging. Keeping pace with industry demands for deep well, ultra deep well and horizontal well operations. ArenaPetro will iteratively optimize the hardware architecture, high temperature resistant processes and modulation demodulation algorithms of its telemetry modules, and continuously enhance product reliability, environmental tolerance and overall performance. Leveraging technical achievements from this test, ArenaPetro will further expand its portfolio of high reliability downhole transmission products, consolidate its technical barriers and market competitiveness in specialized well logging data transmission equipment, and deliver higher quality, stable and high performance holistic data transmission solutions for oil and gas exploration and development.
