The MCM series multifunctional wireline telemetry system is the core product of ArenaPetro, Ltd. It mainly serves the wireline logging field, including the MCM1 series (dual channel) for standard heptcable, the MCM600 series (single channel), and the MCM300 series for monocable. It includes various functions such as cable communication, downhole tool bus control, azimuth measurement, gamma measurement, and cablehead parameters measurement.
The focus of this upgrade is the use of differential 16QAM encoding, optimization of circuit structure, and shielding mode transformer, which improves the SNR of the system by 2.5dB. The maximum uplink speed is extended to 2Mbps (5000 meters), and the downhole tool bus is upgraded from CAN2.0B to CAN FD. The communication speed of the downhole tool bus is increased from 1.0Mbps to 5.0Mbps, greatly improved the processing ability of large data volume and burst data packets. The reliability of data frame reception has been improved, and the cable drive amplifier has been replaced, significantly reduced the modem profile and made it more suitable for thrubit logging systems. Without the Dewar flask, the maximum working temperature can reach 175 degC, and after using a flask, it can reach 230 degC.
MCM1B is an upgraded version of the MCM1A telemetry system, which can reach an uplink rate of 1.2Mbps on standard heptcable at 7000 meters, a rate of 1.0Mbps on 10000 meters cables, and is expected to extend to a transmission distance of 13000 meters while reducing the rate;
MCM600B is an upgraded version of the MCM600A data transmission system, which can reach an uplink rate of 650Kbps on a standard heptcable at 7000 meters, a rate of 500Kbps on a 10000 meters cable, and is expected to extend to a transmission distance of 13000 meters while reducing the rate;
MCM300 is an upgraded version of the MCM200 telemetry system, which can reach an uplink rate of 300Kbps on standard monocable at 7000 meters (up to 400Kbps when using linear power supply in the surface system), a rate of 100Kbps on 8500 meter cables, and is expected to extend to a transmission distance of 10000 meters while reducing the rate;
ArenaPetro, Ltd. has been working on the development of wireline telemetry systems since 2001. The MCM1B series has gone through multiple stages, including 133Kbps, 200Kbps, 320Kbps, 640Kbps, 800kbps, 1Mbps, 1.6Mbps, 2Mbps, etc. It can connect with various logging tools using DTB, CAN, RS485, 1553, Ethernet and other buses to provide a complete set of openhole and casedhole logging services.
MCM1B/MCM600B can match with the downhole tool bus compatible with ArenaPetro's MCM1A/MCM600A series, and the surface decoding board can directly decode the signals of MCM1A/MCM600A. MCM300 can be compatible with ArenaPetro's MCM200 series downhole tool bus, and the surface decoding board can also directly decode the signals of MCM200, protecting the users' investment.
The MCM series telemetry system is currently the preferred data transmission system for of openhole fast combination logging, thrubit logging and imaging logging, VSP seismic logging, and also the preferred data transmission system for casedhole combination logging and imaging logging. It has advantages such as high cost performance, comprehensive functions, reliable transmission, good compatibility, and strong adaptability. It can be matched with various downhole tools and surface systems, and can be customized according to user requirements and has broad application prospects. ArenaPetro expects to officially deliver the products in the second quarter of 2023. After MCM1B, MCM600B and MCM300 are put into production, MCM200/MCM1A/MCM600 will not be produced any more.
